In celebration of my dear aunties birthday, I decided to make some homemade spice rubs for fish and meats. My aunt is a skilled cook and enjoys hosting friends and family. Thus I hope she will really enjoy this gift.

And with no further due I’ll serve you the recipe: 🙂

Meat Rub

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp red pepper powder (sweet)
  • 1 tsp red pepper powder (spicey)
  • 1tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
    • mix them in a little bowl
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
    • grind them in a stone mortar
    • then add them to the little bowl and mix well
    • fill the spice mix into jars and close them well (keep dry!)

Fish Rub

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground white pepper
    • mix them in a little bowl
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp dried estragon
    • grind them in a stone mortar
    • then add them to the little bowl and mix well
  • skin of one lemon
    • peel the lemon with a peeler and dry the peel in the oven at about 80°C with a wooden stick keeping the door of your oven slightly open
    • grind the dry and crispy skins in a stone mortar
    • add it to the spice mix and fill it into jars
    • close them well & store them in a dry place!
